View Full Version : So....how many CM fans have we got here?

Mark

At least two, I know (apart from me) - so any more of you wanting to come out of the closet? :)

Edit (for Yanks): CM = Championship Manager, a soccer management series.

They have CM in the US as well . . . it's got the Major League stuff on it, hasn't it . . .

Oh yeah, Mark . . . where did you get those CM4 screens you showed me a while ago? They had some Henrik Larsson news on them.

Mark
13th October 2001, 22:24
It was on the SI website forums - though to be honest, I'm not completely convinced by them....can't access them any more, as I haven't bothered registering since they moved...

Pedro Lopez
13th October 2001, 22:41
Were they genuine screens or just fan art?

Chris seems to think they're probably part of the thing where fans send in what they think it should look like.

Mark
14th October 2001, 15:45
They could well be, yeah - as I say, the jury's still out. We'll probably get some real screenshots one way or another at some point in the next few months. Either way, CM4 promises to be fantastic....

Although some of us won't be able to play it with current computer.

I played a lot in CM98, or was it some other game... :hmmm: Anyway, I got a ripped version of CM2001, and I always lose 5-0 and get 5-6 injuries per game. Go figure.

Pedro Lopez

Don't worry. Mark's Newcastle team have that problem as well.

I used to play CM like crazy (besides playing civ2) when I was in Uni. It was so addictive that I simply had to stop, or I wouldn't have had a life.

Mark

pc, CM does that to you :)

And my Newcastle team are doing just fine, thank you - in fact, you can read and weep

Tim Vincent
16th October 2001, 19:28

HA HA:lol:

Pedro Lopez
17th October 2001, 18:27
Unlike you glory hunters, I always start in the bottom divison and work up. I'm in Division One after three seasons . . . not bad, huh?

Tim Vincent
18th October 2001, 18:16
but then how long before you get sacked

Pedro Lopez
18th October 2001, 18:40
I've just pulled off two big transfers, of Matt le Tissier and some French guy, so hopefully I won't get the sack. But if I do, I'll drop down to Division 2 again. I don't mind.

Tim Vincent
18th October 2001, 21:06
thats just lovely will ... aren't you supposed to be doing geography

Pedro Lopez
19th October 2001, 10:55
Well I need a break from the wonders of housing development patterns in Oundle, Jiff. I can't have fun all of the time.

Tim Vincent
19th October 2001, 14:32
so you experencing the helta skelta world of division 2 managment

Pedro Lopez
20th October 2001, 18:36
Division 1, actually . . . but I haven't played it for a while, come to think of it. I've been playing SMAC for a change.

Tim Vincent
23rd October 2001, 12:16
SMAC? ... whats that, isn't that football game?

Pedro Lopez
23rd October 2001, 16:36
Erm, Tim . . . this being a civ games site and you being a big civ fan, you would surely know what SMAC is.

(check the forums)

Mark
23rd October 2001, 17:59
Better yet, buy it :)

I haven't been playing it much of late, actually - not enough time, and too many other games to think about.

However, you'll no doubt be dismayed to hear that Newcastle United finished a dismal 11th in the 2004/05 season. Looks like the Intertoto Cup next year, if that. Hopes of a revival in the club's fortunes are few and far between :(

But we can always look back on that one season with a great deal of pride

Pedro Lopez
24th October 2001, 18:14
Mark, how does the Intertoto cup thingy work? Is it voluntary to enter?

Chris Wilkinson
24th October 2001, 20:10
You get offered the chance to apply - then the highest placed applicant gets to play.

Pedro Lopez
25th October 2001, 18:20
Chris, you need an avatar . . . step into my office.

In an unrelated topic, I'm still hanging on around the bottom of division 1, although my team is starting to take shape. If only I had a decent defence.

Tim Vincent
30th October 2001, 09:40
your thread jacking there pedro

Pedro Lopez
30th October 2001, 18:47
Well it wasn't actually threadjacking at all, now was it Tim?

Tim Vincent
13th November 2001, 09:41
no but hell this is

Pedro Lopez
13th November 2001, 19:02
That's also a huge two week bump.

Mark
13th November 2001, 20:30
Ah well - I'll see about reviving my CM game and posting it here when I get a new CD drive (finally)...

Resource Consumer
5th December 2001, 11:47
Me, I'm a CM fan but I get really pissed off about their update policy though.

Mark
5th December 2001, 14:10
Yeah, well - don't we all

I usually only get them every two years - if you're that way inclined, there are God knows how many data updates out there so there's not really any need to buy every update...

Pedro Lopez
5th December 2001, 20:00
I'm still on 97/98.
