I have named Dauphin and Trip as my assistants at the UN. Once we run elections for offices we can work out a different system.

We need to decide if we want to keep our system of government from the other game for this one or if we want to modify it or just scrap it in favor of something else. Would anyone care to try and get a discussion going?

We also need to get a greater percentage of our membership base voting, especially the ones who got into the ISDG late and were overwhelmed by the information overload - they get a fresh start here. A friendly PM here, an aside included with a PBEM turn, nagging (if you know them well enough to get away with it) are all effective means. A few of you participate in PBEM's and other things at forums other than CGN; recruiting is encouraged.

We need some new flags. I know it is difficult, not knowing what civ we will be but given our choices the star and crescent are just not going to work for us in this game. For the last game, orange did a great job for us with the flags. Perhaps some of you could remind him of that with a complement and a hope that he will perform such an admirable job for us again in this game.

When do we need our chat room set up? With different people on different teams in different games we have no secure place to discuss things in real time with everyone who may wish to do so at the same time. It is a real pain sometimes to keep 4 chats going and play PBEM turns and post polls and read threads and… well you get the idea. It’s not a real problem now but when should we have it ready?

That’s all for now, I think…

You (or I, whatever works) could set up a channel on irc.civgaming.net with a key (e.g. banana)

You'd need to type in /join #channel-name key

Thus, with the key posted in the forum, only Rasmelon, Kassi and buster have access to the room without access to the key.

As for flag, I propose we use a variant of the Galicia flag (one of the seven Celtic Nations)

It is basically a white background with a light-blue sash going from the top left to the bottom right

If we go with light-green as our civilisation's colour (it is the Celtic colour), then the sash could change colour for governmental types (I see different ones for Netatolia)
An example is below:

Gad... or in a proper format :p

(note this is an MS Paint creation).

I know this ;) the PTW ISDG has 3 :) The question was when should we have it set up; when do we have the need?

The flag is a nice start :b: - if we are to be the Celts, but what if we are the Mayans or the Dutch? (As for size and formatting; anything you make I can transform into a perfectly sized, perfectly formatted gif so don't worry about size and file type.)

I do alot of work with graphics and can put a nice flag together, once we find out what civ we will play. When is that expected to happen. Also since I am pretty new to this is there somewhere I can go to get definitions of acronyms. You guys abreviate alot of stuff and I find myself not understand what you are talking about.

Anytime you don't get an acronym, just ask.

It now appears certain that we will be the Celts in the first game. (The rest of the teams are already dead, they just need the game to resolve and prove it to them. )

We will need the Pyramids, and we will need to head to Iron Working as soon as we finish Bronze. We will then raise our army of Gallic Swordsmen and conquer our nearest neighbor while reveling in the glory of our Golden Age.

We will be the happiest civilization on the planet. A temple in every town and everyone gets laid! Our people will reproduce like rabbits on Viagra, we will grow and spread our civilization across a vast expanse of land.

We will be loyal and vital allies to our friends and vicious and bloodthirsty adversaries to our enemies. We will dominate our world; in size, in population, in technology, in culture and in military might. We will win the good fight.

Okay, enough bullshit, back to business ;)

We need flags! Lets get the ideas flowing and see some pics, don’t worry about the size and format (bmp’s won’t post as a picture) I can change anything any of you may post to a workable format. :doitnow!: :)

The government (and duties of position) along with the prospective candidates for each position and the method used to resolve the elections, will be as follows:

Chieftain elected
duties: The Chieftain, or Head of State oversees all aspects of the team in relationship to the game, is the primary player/sender of the game turn, breaks tie votes by absolute authority whether it be a poll or a voice vote in turnchat, posts the turn report and chat log in as timely a manner as RL will allow and is the primary liaison to the UN. In the event that an elected official has not posted orders or polls it is the responsibility of the Chieftain to assume those duties or delegate those duties until such time as the elected official returns to duty, is temporarily replaced by appointment or is permanently replaced by an election.

Sheriff elected
duties: Assists the Chieftain in his/her duties. In the event the Chieftain is unable to perform his/her duties the person in this position assumes the responsibility whether it be temporary or permanent (until the next election.)

Two candidates for two positions; this will be resolved by a poll. The one receiving the most votes will be the Chieftain, the runner-up will be the Sheriff. The election will be between brian_the_bold and miccofl.

Grand Communicator elected
duties: Is the primary liaison with other teams/civilizations in the game, drafts documents, trade proposals and treaties, monitors foreign embassies (chat), and assists the Chieftain in selecting ambassadors.

There are two candidates, Dauphin and miccofl, and an election will be held. it should be noted at this point that if miccofl wins either of the positions in the “Chieftain/Sheriff” election Dauphin wins by default.

Warlord of the Empire elected
duties: Runs the military. Allocates units, submits production requests, proposes offensive and defensive strategies, etc.

There are two candidates, Frozzy and brian_the_bold, and an election will be held. it should be noted at this point that if brian_the_bold wins either of the positions in the “Chieftain/Sheriff” election Frozzy wins by default.

Overseer elected
duties: This is one of the most important and powerful positions. Its area of responsibility covers everything from worker orders to polling for production and everything in between specifically: Labor Allocation, Entertainment, Production, Tax Collection, Terraforming and Road and Rail Construction, General Construction, and running the requisite polls. The office also coordinates with the Grand Druid to arrive at an equitable setting for science funds allocation.

There is only one candidate for this position, Trip. An election will be held between Trip and a write in vote.

Grand Druid elected
duties: This position is primarily that of a lobbyist/pollster, it is to gather public opinion to determine and arrive at scientific goals, lobby for scientific and cultural progress (buildings, wonders, etc) and to coordinate with the Overseer on the most equitable science funds allocation. It is also responsible for maintaining a historical diary of our civilizations progress for later embellishment and the spiritual well being of our people.

There is only one candidate for this position, KidThings. An election will be held between KidThings and a write in vote.

Just to reaffirm, I will be available to fulfill my duty as of next Wednesday. I can also start to re-receive the game files for both ISDGs from, lets say, Tuesday.

There was no poll, just a discussion, but when the names were proposed there was no dissent so they became the names.

There are 6 leadership positions that all say elected but I only remember 5 polls?

Are we Catagonians or Netagonians?

B_T_B's ®5000 bet logged at 6:5 (pays ®6000.) Odds for this bet are now 16:1 that it will not due to the UN BS.

As for Grungy's action, it's dead even.
