Re: Nethog's Civ3 Conquests Tech Tree & Unit Summary
It's up to you, but I wouldn't recommend it. The computer game is a million times more fun...but I'm not really into board games, so what do I know. If you think you'll be able to get lots of people to play it with you all the time and you love board games, then go for it. If you're just getting it because you like Civ...then I wouldn't get it.

Re: Nethog's Civ3 Conquests Tech Tree & Unit Summary
I must take issue with Laser's statement.
I found the board game Civilization to be the best board game that I have played. (Diplomacy is a distant second). 2 caveats about Civilization: 1) You want 6 or 7 'real' gamers. 2) Average game time for us was 12 hours. ONE of the things that made the game so interesting was that you were never out of it. When a civil war disaster strikes, the leading team loses half of its force to the team that was currently in last place - thus giving it a BIG boost. Another factor, as in Risk or Diplomacy, if several civs gang up on the leader, he can be knocked down in size pretty damned quickly. |
