Working at Belmont Racetrack Tomorrow
My brother and I are going to be working at Belmont Racetrack tomorrow as whitecaps (ushers) for the Breeders' Cup races.
$150, plus tips, for a single day's work. *evil grin* (If you're wondering why I'm grinning so much, it's because I made nearly $60 in tips while doing the Belmont Stakes earlier this year, and the Breeders' is a series of 7 or 8 races all on the scale of the Stakes for their respective fields. Meaning the people there tomorrow are gonna have even deeper pockets. )So if you're all wondering where the hell I am tomorrow, that's where I'll be.

You're never here anyway!
And deep pockets is normally a bad thing . . . short arms + deep pockets = people can't reach the money.

Orange: Two years younger. Shared a room with him for SEVENTEEN YEARS
![]() Well, it was MIGHTY COLD on Saturday! *shivers at the thought* Made $40 in tips, but it would've been a lot more if it hadn't been for one thing: One of the two sections I was ushering was totally comprised of a group of British tourists... and as you can probably guess, since Brits are very used to service being included in the regular prices they pay (as is most of Europe), they don't know how to tip. I got maybe $5 of the $40 from that group. This calamity, however, was offset by my one play of the horses on the day: a $10 win bet on Tiznow to retain his Classic crown, who came in a nose ahead of the European turf champion, Sakhee. Made $68 profit, even though the ushers weren't supposed to be gambling ![]() So my net for the day: $150 + $40 + $68 = $258, over $25 a hour, about a third of that being breaks

The $150 is subject to taxes. The rest of it is under the table.
Not bad, not bad.
