Drone Weekly - preliminary edition

The Drone Weekly

13th February 2103

The Drones have made Planetfall. We have survived, surely along with countless others, though their identity still remains unknown. The coalition of the Free Drones – no longer subservient to the beast Yang, and his minions – working on a free world for all workers. All content here has been personally ratified and scrutinized by Foreman buster himself.

All those months ago, upon the inauguration of the coalition, Foreman buster spoke movingly of our plans for the new planet. His foreknowledge knew no bounds – aside from talking at great lengths about ‘worms’ – we now know there are ‘mind worms’ on Planet that oft terrorize its human inhabitants – he seemed hell-bent on control of Planet from the outset. Not to conquer, of course, but to rule benevolently as leader of all he sees.

Our first thought upon Planetfall was the searing chill in the air. Temperatures have been known to dip as low as –10C here in the frosty northern wastes of the new planet, though a river is able to freely flow through our colony in the summer months. As I write this, I look out of the window, and it barely moves, the ice juxtaposing with the freezing water, jostling for position. It came to mind that this may represent our struggle on this new planet – for who knows how many survived Planetfall? – and we may be jostling for survival, just as the ice suffocates the water below.

The Second Colony

Plans are already in place for the founding of a second colony. In December of last year, a colony pod reached the Nutra river, and preliminary indications suggest that we may be able to establish the second colony as early as May of this year.

Unity Pods

Two unity pods appear to have been sighted in close proximity to our base. Plans are in place for two scout patrols to investigate later this year, and academics have already hypothesized as to what they may contain. It is thought that the highest probability is of a special ‘Unity Rover’ which were known to have been packed into the pods for the colony to assemble. We again seethe at the Hive, for it was members of their so-called faction that apparently overlooked installing vital information and technology in the pods, in the event of such a circumstance.

The Sea

Like those of Earth, the seas on Chiron seem abundant in food and resources, one section especially so. It is also thought, unlike earth, that the installation of tidal harnesses for energy accumulation is viable as soon as we are able to build the required foil chassis. It is not clear whether this will be a priority for Chairman buster and his cabinet, who may instead opt for a more industrial solution. Early fisherman, however, have indicated that the sea kelp from the seas of Chiron is exquisite, and the seas are also known to accommodate various species of squid - their taste is surely an experience in their own right.

As a footnote, us Drones are a simple folk, and until we learn the secret of attaching pictures to our articles, we are unable to provide illustrations for this edition of Drone Weekly.
