Civilization III - Newbie

Hi everyone,

I'm kind of new to civilization III but I'm really enjoying it. There are questions that need answering..

1) How do you construct such a great army to conquer the whole map?
2) When going to invade someone, I find myself holding back. After trading world maps with one computer, All the other civilizations had massive areas whilst I had only a small part of the map. Any tips on moving the armies all at once to build my confidence a little?
3) When you trade technologies, Do you lose the technology?
4) How do you fund more gold?
5) How do you get more oppurtunities to improve your palace?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1. build troops as you build everything else..u have to have a balance
2. the ai cheet..:P actuallY the ai start off advantaged they get more troops and explores to start with so unless u are very lucky they will always know more map than you
3.no if u have a tech u have it...u trade to get more techs...make sure to try to get a better deal than what the comp offeres..
4.build build build...more towns more people markets, banks,stockmarkets all add gold and some wonders help a ton too
5.happy people wonders and just random cool things in game...and i always get something when i kill another civ....
