'nother newb question: corruption and patches
Hi all
Very new to Civ3 - more used to playing Civ2. Can anyone help with with a few questions? CORRUPTION/WASTE This makes it absolutely impossible to expand beyond a certain size. I conquer a city say 1/3 of the map away from my capital, under Monarchy - and corruption/waste run at 75%! This is with road connections. So this means a small-sized city with 4 shields available only produces at a rate of 1 shield. Absolutely useless. IMHO they've overdone this: what's the point of trying to play for a domination/conquest victory when any cities you conquer are just useless burdens? I expect to see some difficulties from distance/a city being originally foreign - but this is impossible. Try to give them a Temple/Courthouse? At 1 shield/turn, it'll take until beyond the end of the game. Tried switching to Republic in a previous game, but it made no difference. This is about 600 years before I'm even near having Communism available (assuming that going Commie still works on corruption like in Civ2). On this old thread I found some info about corruption, patches, and the editor: http://www.civgaming.net/forums/show...ght=corruption Now the one I've got is the UK distribution called Civ3 Complete. Looking on the main screen it says "1.22" in small letters somewhere. 1. Would a patch make this corruption a bit less ridiculous, as implied in that thread I linked to? 2. Can I even get a patch for this version? I can't seem to find it anywhere. 3. How do I crank up the editor to mess with the corruption settings, as mentioned in that thread? Can't find it anywhere. thanks a lot! |

Re: 'nother newb question: corruption and patches
Found the editor now. Had a look at the "optimum number of cities" for Large maps, which I was playing, and it seems to be 24. I've only got 19 cities, so anyone have any idea what's going on?
Maybe I need to switch the Monarchy corruption level to the next best (Problematic? can't remember)? |
